Oct. 16, 2008 Stony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook University's Department of Athletics has recently added three new members to its staff for the 2008-09 school year. The Student-Athlete Development staff grew by one with the addition of Shannon Logan while the External Services staff added two to its roster with Andrea Lebedinski and John VanWagner joining the Seawolves. Logan will be an academic advisor for Stony Brook, working with the men's and women's swimming & diving teams, men's and women's tennis teams, men's and women's track & field and cross country teams, and women's lacrosse team. She comes to Stony Brook after having served as a graduate assistant in the academic services department and the facilities and operations department at Fairfield University. Logan graduated from Fairfield University in 2006 with a bachelor's in economics and then again in 2008 with a master's in teaching and foundations. While at Fairfield, Logan played four years of softball. She was named to the MAAC All-Academic team in 2005 and 2006 and was a member of the All-MAAC second team and MAAC All-Tournament team in 2005. VanWagner will serve as Stony Brook's Manager of Marketing and Corporate Sales. He is in charge of all Stony Brook's athletic marketing as well as being involved in game day operations, corporate sponsorship sales, and community outreach and university relations. Prior to Stony Brook he was an assistant for Athletic Marketing at St. John's University where he was involved in group sales, the execution and design of marketing plans, increased campus and community awareness in addition to securing media sponsorship and managing and executing game day operations. Before his time at St. John's, he served as a sports properties and network public relations intern at Madison Square Garden. His duties included game day operations, scheduling and managing media as well as day-to-day media relations tasks. He also interned at Taylor Communications where he planned, publicized and executed public relations initiatives. VanWagner graduated with a bachelor's degree from Marist College in 2006 where he majored in public relations and communication studies and minored in psychology. In 2008 he received his MBA in Executive Management from St. John's. Lebedinski joins the external staff as the Coordinator of Merchandise and Branding. In her role she is responsible for increasing visibility and merchandise sales for the University through on-campus and Long Island-wide retail promotional campaigns. She will also be working to develop new vendor relationships within the local community that serve to heighten spirit, pride, and awareness of Stony Brook University. Prior to working full-time with the Seawolves, Lebedinski worked as a student assistant in the department as floor director for the Stony Brook Sports Report, the department's weekly television show, along with various marketing efforts. Lebedinski is a 2008 summa cum laude graduate of Stony Brook with a degree in business management. |
