Abe Turpin was named building supervisor of the Indoor Sports Complex at Stony Brook in March of 1978.

Turpin is responsible for overseeing a staff of student workers, while assisting with campus and community activities as well as sporting events held at the Indoor Sports Complex.

Turpin served as a dental hygienist with a rank of Specialist E-5 in the United States Army at Fort Gordon, Ga., and Fort Knox, Ken., from 1967-70. He graduated from Farmingdale State University with an associate's degree in mortuary science in 1974 and continued his education at Stony Brook, earning his bachelor's degree from Empire College in 2004.

Turpin resides in Shirley, N.Y.
