GAME SPONSORSHIP
One of the more popular advertising avenues and one of the most interactive ways is through game
sponsorship. Companies sponsor a premium item giveaway or halftime event and their logo is placed on the item for visibility purposes. Media placements involving the company logo and information would be used in cable
television and in newspapers such as Newsday. Along with that, companies are welcome to come the game that day, give away brochures and coupons to fans coming into the game. Such game sponsorships in the past include:
'BOARS HEAD CHEER STIX NIGHT'
Boar's Head sponsors a Cheer Stix giveaway with logo on 2,000 sets of Cheer Stix and support advertisements in Newsday and Times Beacon Record newspapers. Banners are hung in the arena and Boar's Head is supported with message center and public address advertisements.
'FLEET BANK BOBBLEHEAD DOLL DAY'
Fleet Bank sponsors the annual Seawolves Bobblehead Doll giveaway. The Fleet Bank logo is placed on the bottom of the bobblehead. Advertisements are placed with Newsday, Cablevision and Times Beacon Record Newspapers.
Fleet Bank Booblehead Doll Night is one of the most popular giveaways each year.
'EXTREME TEAM SLAM DUNKERS
SPONSORED BY THE PORT JEFFERSON FERRY'
Entertainment acts such as the Extreme Team Slam Dunkers come in and perform at halftime of various athletic events including basketball and football. The acts help to draw fans and in most cases, draw a significant increase in fans. Advertisements are placed with Newsday, Cablevision and Times Beacon Record
Newspapers. Banners are hung in the facility and public address and message center ads with the
company name are used to support the event.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Community outreach is a great track in enhancing a solid corporate image. This past season, Coca-Cola of Long Island joined hands with the Boys and Girls Club of Suffolk County. Coca-Cola purchased 500 tickets for the Boys and Girls Club to attend a Stony Brook football game and the Boys and Girls Club purchased the
other 500. Coca-Cola was honored at halftime for their involvement and community outreach.
Many of the kids clinics the Seawolves host are in need of a sponsor to help finance the event. Every year, the Seawolves host football, basketball and lacrosse clinics. A t-shirt giveaway is often times involved along with advertisements in the local newspapers. Lay-Ups & Autographs With The Seawolves is another popular event. Four to five times per year, the Seawolves have kids ages 5-13 come down to the basketball court after the game and do a lay-up with their favorite players. Many more of these opportunities exist. Please call for information.
