New York, N.Y. - Jonathan Brims, Jenny Payne and Mike Thompson all recorded runner-up finishes to lead Stony Brook at the Fordham/St. John's Indoor Track and Field Invitational on Friday, Jan. 19

Payne finished second in the 3000m, recording the second-fastest time in school history. Her time of 10:07.51 also shattered her personal best by 16 seconds.

On the men's side, Brims, competing for the first time as a Seawolf, finished second in the mile with a time of 4:19.78, which is also the second-fastest time in Stony Brook indoor track and field history.

As for Thompson, his time of 2:32.1 was good for second place in the 1000m.

In other results, Dana Shepherd finished fifth in the 55m with a time of 7.49, while Chris Hunt was eighth in the 500m with his best time of the season, 1:06.66.

In field events, Craig Matuza was fourth in the shot put with a toss of 14.39 meters, and Joe Cardinale was eighth with a throw of 13.54 meters.
