Farrell, Hastie Lead Track and Field at Final Day of 2006 America East Indoor Championships

Boston, Mass. - Brian Farrell posted another runner-up finish and Dana Hastie set a new school record to lead Stony Brook track and field at the second and final day of the 2006 America East Indoor Championships on Saturday afternoon at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center. Farrell, who finished second in the 5000-meters on Friday night, continued his outstanding indoor campaign with a second place finish in the 3000-meters in an IC4A qualifying time of 8:28.88. Hastie finished third in the 3000-meters in a school record and ECAC qualifying time of 9:40.95. Other top finishes on the men's side came from Justin Miller, who was fourth in the shot put with a toss of 14.74 meters, Rahmel Huffman, who was fifth in the high jump with a jump of 1.93 meters, Mubaarak Muhammad, who was sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 13.20 meters, Shaun Krawitz, who was seventh in the 3000-meters in 8:36.11 and Kenneth Guerin, who was eighth in the shot put with a throw of 14.02 meters. On the women's side, Sarah Herbert finished third in the 1000-meters in an ECAC qualifying time of 2:55.58 and Leonora Joy crossed fourth in the 3000-meters in an ECAC qualifying time of 9:45.12. The women's 4x800-meter relay team finished fifth in 9:29.99.
The men finished seventh with 33 points behind champion Albany (193 points), UMBC (148), New Hampshire (127.5), Boston University (100), Binghamton (86.5) and Maine (50). The women's team finished eighth with 33 points behind champion Boston University (195 points), Albany (165.5), Maine (91), New Hampshire (84.5), UMBC (84), Binghamton (71) and Vermont (53). |
