Track and Field Has Historic Day at ECAC/IC4A Championships

Boston, Mass. - Stony Brook's track and field team had their first IC4A champion crowned today, when sophomore Tim Hodge (Tawa, New Zealand) finished first in the 3,000-meter at the ECAC/IC4A Championships in Boston, Massachusetts Saturday. Hodge crossed in a time of 8:04.42, setting a new school record and qualifying provisionally for the NCAA Championships.

Senior Dana Hastie (Wellington, New Zealand) had the next-best finish for the Seawolves, placing second in the women's 5,000-meter. Hastie's time of 16:34.96 was also a school record and she improved upon her previous NCAA Championship qualifying time.

Freshman Lucy Van Dalen (Wanganui, New Zealand) qualified for the finals tomorrow in the mile by finishing first in her heat today with a time of 4:52.80.
