Stony Brook, N.Y. - Freshman Lucy Van Dalen (Wanganui, New Zealand) has been named the America East Women's Track and Field Performer of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Van Dalen was the first collegiate athlete to cross the finish line in the mile during the Valentine Invitational in Boston, Mass. this past weekend. Her time of 4:46.32 was nearly two seconds under the NCAA provisional qualifying time of 4:48 and the 19th fastest by a Division I athlete this season.

Van Dalen and the rest of the Stony Brook track and field team will be competing in Boston again next week during the America East Championships.
