Seven Seawolves Named to America East Track and Field All-Academic Team

March 6, 2008

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook seniors Mubaarak Muhammad (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) and Dana Hastie (Wellington, New Zealand) and sophomores Daire Bermingham (Portmarnock, Ireland), Tim Hodge (Tawa, New Zealand), Jessica Hampson (Smithtown, N.Y.), Laura Huet (Carrickmines, Ireland) and Stephanie Vos (Apalachin, N.Y.) were named to the America East Track and Field All-Academic team, according to a release from the conference Wednesday.

The America East selects the all-academic teams based on the student-athlete's academic and athletic accomplishments. Academic achievement for consideration requires student-athletes to have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.00 entering the season, while athletic accomplishments require the student-athlete to be a top-three finisher at the conference championship meet.

Muhammad, Bermingham and Hodge were members of the first-place distance medley team. Bermingham also placed third in mile and Hodge finished first in the 3,000-meter. Hastie placed second in the 5,000-meter while Hampson, Huet and Vos were members of the first-place distance medley team. Hampson was also a member of the second-place 4X800-meter relay team and Huet also took second in the 3,000-meter.
