Lucy Van Dalen Finishes Ninth at NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship

Sophomore Lucy Van Dalen (Wanganui, New Zealand) crossed ninth in the women's 1,500-meter race at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday afternoon. Van Dalen, who became the first student-athlete in Stony Brook school history to compete in a final of the Outdoor Championship, finished the race in 4:18.76. She crossed less than one second shy of earning All-America honors. [+]

06/11/2009 Lucy Van Dalen Qualifies for NCAA Outdoor Championship Final Sophomore Lucy Van Dalen (Wanganui, New Zealand) finished sixth in her heat of the women's 1,500-meter preliminary race at the NCAA Outdoor Championship in Fayetteville, Arkansas on Thursday night, but posted a fast enough qualifying time to advance to the finals on Saturday afternoon. She completed the race in 4:16.11, seizing the 12th and final qualifying spot. Van Dalen is the first student-athlete in school history to qualify for a NCAA Outdoor Championship final. This comes on the heels of becoming the first student-athlete to ever compete in the NCAA Indoor Championship earlier this year. [+]

06/11/2009 Holly Van Dalen Misses NCAA Outdoor Championship Finals by One Spot Delayed until the early hours of Thursday morning due to lightning and thunderstorms, sophomore Holly Van Dalen (Wanganui, New Zealand) missed qualifying for the 5,000-meter finals in the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships by just one spot. Originally scheduled to race at 9:40 p.m. EST, Holly's heat did not being until closer to 1:00 a.m. EST as a result of the delays. [+]
