2002-03: Captured first place in the 5K at the Stony Brook Invitational, winning by over a minute with a time of 18:42, to open the season . . . won her second straight meet at CCSU, finishing in 17:46.4, nine seconds ahead of her nearest competitor . . . finished runner-up at the METS Championships, helping the Seawolves to their best-ever finish (second place) as a team at METS . . . ran the 5K course in 17:50.3 . . . captured the America East individual title with a time of 17:32 in the 5K, out-distancing the runner-up by an impressive 12 seconds . . . Payne's time was the sixth-best in conference championship history . . . became Stony Brook's first-ever NCAA qualifier, placing eighth among 238 competitors at the regional meet . . . Payne ran the course in 21:04.8 . . . became the program's first-ever All-American at the NCAA Championships, recording a time of 20:17.6 on the 6K course for a No. 23 finish . . . received NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship and the Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence . . . named cross country team MVP . . . received Stony Brook's Female Athlete of the Year honors for the second straight season.
