Women's Cross Country Finishes Fifth At Paul Short Invitational

Bethlehem, Pa. - Sophomore Laura Huet (Carrickmines, Ireland) finished 25th out of 317 runners as the Stony Brook women's cross country team finished fifth out of 47 teams on Friday afternoon at the Paul Short Invitational. Shaun Krawitz (Auckland, New Zealand) came in 16th out of 270 runners as the men's team finished in 17th place. Huet finished the women's 6K race in 21:21 with freshman Lucy Van Dalen (Wanganui, New Zealand) following close behind in 26th place (21:23). Fellow freshman Holly Van Dalen (Wanganui, New Zealand) came in 29th with a time of 21:39 while senior Dana Hastie (Wellington, New Zealand) placed 44th (21:39). The women defeated Tennessee, ranked 28th nationally, as well as Cornell and Syracuse who are ranked 3rd and 8th in the region, respectively. Krawitz ran the men's 8K in 24:41, just over ten seconds out of the top 10. Freshman Tim Hodge (Tawa, New Zealand) was the second Stony Brook runner to cross the finish line, coming in 38th place with a time of 25:00. The Seawolves return to action on Sunday, October 7th for the Metropolitan Championships in the Bronx, N.Y.
