Terre Haute, Ind. - Stony Brook University's women's cross country team finished in 30th place at the NCAA Division I Championship in Terre Haute, Indiana on Monday afternoon. The Seawolves were paced by sophomore Lucy van Dalen (Wanganui, New Zealand) who was the 91st runner to cross.

Making their second-consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championship, the Seawolves improved upon last year's performance by one spot.

"Considering the way we came into the meet with sickness and injuries, I'm happy we moved up one spot from last year," said head coach Andy Ronan. "More importantly, we made a return trip, which is a difficult thing to do.

"We improved this year and we are still building towards a bright future and towards our goal of becoming a consistent top-25 team."

Van Dalen completed the 6K course in a time of 21:20, which was six seconds ahead of her twin sister, Holly Van Dalen (Wanganui, New Zealand), who finished 103rd overall. Following the Van Dalen's was junior Laura Huet (Carrickmines, Ireland) in 143rd (21:48), freshman Hayley Green (Wellington, New Zealand) in 177th (22:07), sophomore Carolina Cortes (Woodmere, N.Y.) in 198th (22:36).

Sally Kipyego from Texas Tech was the individual winner, claiming her third-consecutive championship in a time of 19:29.
