Two weeks after the Stony Brook women’s cross country team won its third-straight America East Championship, the men’s and women’s squads head to the NCAA Northeast Regional Meet at Franklin Park in Boston. The men’s 10K race, slated to start at 2:30 pm, will be followed by the women’s 6K race at 3:30 pm.

Led by juniors Holly and Lucy van Dalen (Wanganui, New Zealand), the women’s team is looking to qualify for the NCAA Championships for the third straight year. Senior captain Laura Huet (Carrickmines, Ireland) will push for a top-15 finish individually. Junior Lisa Voltaire (Stockholm, Sweden), sophomore Hayley Green (Wellington, New Zealand), junior Carolina Cortes (Woodmere, N.Y.) and sophomore Patricia Barry (Tipperary, Ireland) will all have big rolls in the team’s scoring.

On the men’s side, senior Alex Felce (Stroud, England) and junior Tim Hodge (Tawa, New Zealand) are strong contenders for an individual spot at the NCAA Championships. They will be helped by senior Daire Bermingham (Portmarnock, Ireland), sophomore Gerard Harley (Setauket, N.Y.), senior Kurt Wende (Williamsville, N.Y.), junior Alexander Felicier (Bronx, N.Y.) and sophomore Mark Appledorf (Hauppauge, N.Y.).

The Northeast Region consists of all Division I schools in New York and New England. The top-2 teams automatically qualify and the top-4 individual finishers, not on the qualified teams, will compete at the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. on November 23.
