However, the Seawolves were held scoreless by winning pitcher Matt Benfield until the sixth inning. in the meantime, the Hawks put five runs on the board, four which came in the fifth inning off losing pitcher Lee Reynolds (2-1). The Seawolves closed to within 5-3 in the sixth inning and had runners at first and second with no outs in the seventh, but could not score.

In the second game, Stony Brook once again took a first inning lead, scoring two runs on an RBI single by Craig Ansman and a sacrifice fly by Alex Trezza. Stony Brook added one more in the second inning as Matt Salmon single home Phil Bouchard. Monmouth tied the game in the third inning with two runs and the game remained that way until the ninth inning when Lutz's RBI scored Foster.
