Seawolves Score Dramatic Win over Albany

April 5, 2003

Box Score

Cole Cicatelli knocked the game-winning homerun in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Seawolves (10-8/1-0) their first America East win of the year by downing the Albany Great Danes (6-13/0-1) by a score of 3-1. Game two of the double header was called in the middle of the eighth inning due to darkness and will resume tomorrow at 11:30 p.m.

The Seawolves entered the ninth inning of game knotted with Albany at one run apiece. Andrew Larsen reached first after being hit by a pitch and then proceeded to steal second. Cicatelli would drive them both home with his third homerun of the season.

The Great Danes took the lead initially when Tony Vallone brought home Dan Schoonmaker in the fifth inning with a single to left. The Seawolves would respond with a run of their own in the bottom of the sixth when Matt Devins singled to right, bringing home Garrett Renner and setting the stage for Cicatelli's homer in the ninth.

Jon Lewis pitched eight innings, allowed one run and struck out eight. Matt Restivo struck out two and was created with the win for the Seawolves. Adam Kroft pitched six for Albany and struck out six and Shawn Ryan threw two and was credited with the loss.

Game two of the double header will resume Sunday with both teams knotted at five in the middle of the eight.
