April 6, 2005

Box Score

Brooklyn, N.Y. - The Stony Brook baseball team scored two first-inning runs and the pitching staff made them hold up as the Seawolves defeated St. Francis (N.Y.) 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon at KeySpan Park. The victory improves Stony Brook's record to 10-15 this year, while St. Francis falls to 2-12.

The Seawolves jumped on the Terriers early to take a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. In the first, Matt Devins singled to left field and Isidro Fortuna followed with a walk. After a double steal, Nick Theoharis hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield to score Devins and Tom Pennino followed with an RBI single that scored Fortuna.

Matt Restivo (3-1) pitched three innings allowing just three hits to pick up the victory. The Terriers' Paul Lepore (0-4) was charged with the loss.

The Stony Brook pitching staff only allowed five hits to the Terriers on the day.

The Seawolves are back in action this weekend at UMBC to open America East conference play.
