Box Score

The Stony Brook Seawolves baseball team extended its winning streak to 11 games by taking a 3-1 decision over the Marist Red Foxes Tuesday afternoon in a game played in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The Seawolves improve to 18-8 overall while Marist is now 18-10-1.

The game was tied 1-1 entering the top of the eighth, when Marist starting pitcher Scott Chambers walked Mike Russo. Reliever George Heath then walked Rich Graham and then a bunt single by Cole Cicatelli brought home what was eventually the game-winning run.

Marist threatened in the eight inning when Tyler Brock led off with a pinch hit walk. Andy Kiriakedes doubled to right center field, but two perfect Stony Brook relay throws nailed pinch runner Josh Pardo at the plate.

Graham finished the day with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate, while Garrett Renner was 2-for-5 with 2 RBI. Matt Devins also tallied a 3-for-4 day to help improve the Seawolves' record.

The Seawolves used eight pitchers in the game, with Dave Mischo earning the win, improving to 3-2, as he allowed one hit in pitching the bottom of the seventh inning. Kevin Fitzgerald earned his first save of the year tossing the ninth, walking one and striking out one. Stony Brook pitching allowed just five Marist hits.
