Stony Brook Baseball Falls to Albany, 9-1

Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook baseball team was held to only three hits and committed three errors as the Seawolves fell to Albany, 9-1, at University Field on Friday afternoon. Albany scored nine unanswered runs as the Seawolves fall to 15-15 overall and 6-2 in America East play. The Great Danes improve to 14-17, 1-4. The Seawolves held a 1-0 advantage heading into the top of the fifth inning as Brian Witkowski scored on a Great Dane error in the first. In the fifth and sixth inning Albany plated six runs as the Great Danes broke the game open with a four-run sixth capped by a three-run home run from Leo Corvino. Albany added a run in the eighth and one in the ninth as they out-hit the Seawolves, 13-3 in the 9-1 win. Tom Koehler (2-6) allowed 11 hits and six runs in 7.0 innings on the hill. Witkowski finished the day 1-for-3 with a run scored in the loss. The Seawolves will continue their series with Albany with a doubleheader on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
