Stony Brook, N.Y. - Junior Muhammad El-Amin (Lansing, Mich.) was named Stony Brook Athlete of the Week on Monday after leading the Stony Brook men's basketball team to victories over Air Force and UMBC last week.

He scored 20 points in the Seawolves upset victory over Air Force on Wednesday, going 8-for-16 from the field in addition to tying a season-high with six rebounds. He then came back to scored 19 in SBU's victory over defending conference UMBC on Saturday night, including the go-ahead three-pointer with 3:43 remaining.

El-Amin is currently ranked eighth in the America East in scoring (13.2 points per game) for the Seawolves, who are off to their best start since joining Division I in 1999.
