Gameday: Men's Basketball Look To Continue Winning Ways Against Lehigh

Bethlehem, Pa. - The Stony Brook University men's basketball team will try to pick up its second straight victory on Wednesday, traveling to take on the Lehigh Mountain Hawks at Stabler Arena . Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast locally on WLIR 107.1 FM. Series History: Lehigh leads the series 3-1 after picking up a 58-54 victory over the visiting Seawolves on November 22, 2005. Mike Popoko led the Seawolves with a career-high 23 points and eight rebounds. Last Time Out Senior Ricky Lucas (Herndon, Va.) scored a game-high 19 points and junior Demetrius Young (Sacramento, Calif.) added 12 points to go along with 14 rebounds to lead the Stony Brook men's basketball team to a 70-43 victory over the Dartmouth Big Green Saturday afternoon at Stony Brook Arena, the Seawolves first victory of the 2007-08 season. Scouting the Mountain Hawks: Lehigh (3-5) will be trying to snap two-game skid after falling to Central Connecticut State on Saturday afternoon 65-55 on the road as Lehigh was out rebounded 37-26 and shot only nine free throws to the Blue Devils' 27. Sophomore Zahir Carrington led the Mountain Hawks as he hit five-of-seven shots en route to a team-high 13 points, while freshman Rob Keefer tied his career-high with 12 points. Lehigh is currently third in the Patriot League and 40th in the nation in three-point field goal percentage, hitting .404 percent from deep. Winning In Style: Stony Brook finally broke into the win column on Saturday against Dartmouth, the 27-point victory was the largest since the Seawolves defeated the Rhode Island College 95-51 in the 2002-03 season. Double-Double Vision:
Junior Demetrius Young had his best game in a Stony Brook uniform, notching career-highs in points (12) and rebounds (14). The double-double was the first for the Seawolves since Emanuel Neto recorded one against Maine last season. Young is now second on the team in rebounds (54) and is averaging 9.7 rebounds per game since joining the starting lineup against Columbia.
Lucas Breaks Out: After scoring just six points in the previos two games, senior Ricky Lucas broke out in the Seawolves victory over Darmouth on Sunday. The Herndon, Va. native scored a game-high 19 points and added eight boards. |
