Bamiro Named To The Sports Network I-AA Mid-Major All-America Team

Dec. 3, 2004

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Senior defensive end David Bamiro was named to The Sports Network's 2004 I-AA Mid-Major All-America team on Friday. A panel of I-AA media and sports information directors covering the 22 mid-major programs of the MAAC, NEC and Pioneer Leagues selected the team.

Bamiro started all 39 games that he played in at Stony Brook and in 2004 led the NEC with 10.5 sacks en route to setting a new conference mark for total sacks. The senior wrapped up his career with 29 sacks, surpassing the previous conference mark of 26 held by Odain Mitchell of Sacred Heart.

Bamiro earned second-team honors last year and was named to The Sports Network's 2004 Preseason All-America Team last August.

All 27 players selected for The Sports Network 2004 I-AA Mid-Major All-America Team are automatically nominated for the I-AA-wide All-America team, to be announced Monday, December 13. The 22 programs of the MAAC, Northeast Conference, and Pioneer Football League, which play at a non-scholarship or limited scholarship level, make up the I-AA Mid-Major ranks.
