Stony Brook, N.Y. - Kevin Pall (Merrick, N.Y./Calhoun HS) scored five goals in the second half to lead Stony Brook to a 9-7 win over Marist in a non-conference matchup Wednesday afternoon at Seawolves Field. Pall's five goals increases his Division I leading total to 34 for the season and helped Stony Brook improve to 6-3 while Marist slipped to 2-5.

Stony Brook jumped out to a 3-0 lead behind first quarter tallies from Tris Gillen (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego), Mike Sakowich (New Hyde Park, N.Y./New Hyde Park) and Matt Campolettano (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Chaminade) but Marist's Pat Van Horne put the Red Foxes on the board and Paul Donohue followed with back-to-back goals in the second quarter to knot the game at 3-3.

With the score tied at three at halftime, lightning halted the game for 35 minutes. Following the delay, Stony Brook took the lead for good with 3:27 remaining in the third quarter. Eric Hatkewitz took a pass from Denis Scannell off a deadball situation, raced in on goal and bounced a shot past Marist goalie Brian Schumeyer to give Stony Brook a 4-3 lead.

Held scoreless to that point, Pall then took over for the Seawolves scoring five straight goals as Stony Brook surged to a 9-4 advantage by scoring five of the next six goals. Marist bounced back with three goals to close out the scoring in the fourth quarter, getting two more from Donohue and a goal from Brian Diele to trim the lead to 9-7 with 1:48 to play. The Seawolves won the ensuing face-off and controlled possession for the remainder of the game to preserve the win.

The Seawolves outshot Marist 57-26 but it was the play of Schumeyer that kept the Red Foxes in the game as the junior goalie made 24 saves on the afternoon. Paul Donohue was also outstanding for Marist, finishing with four goals and two assists.

Steve Armsworthy (Leonardtown, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) was solid in the net for the Seawolves, recording 13 saves for his fifth win.
