Villanova Deals Men's Lacrosse 13-5 Defeat

Villanova, Pa. - The Villanova Wildcats scored the first seven goals of the game en route to a 13-5 win over Stony Brook in a non-conference matchup Sunday afternoon. The loss was the third straight for Stony Brook and dropped the Seawolves to 3-7 on the season.

Matt Starker scored three times in a five-goal first quarter for the eighteenth-ranked Wildcats and Villanova added two more in the second before Jason Cappadoro got the Brook on the board with 2:37 to go before the half.

Stony Brook got within 9-4 on Kevin Shea's man-up goal at 6:30 of the third but the Wildcats responded with three straight tallies to put the game out of reach. Villanova outshot Stony Brook 34-14 on the day and recorded 52 ground balls to Stony Brook's 33.

Cappadoro turned in an outstanding effort with three goals and an assist. George LaFlare added a goal and an assist in the loss. Errol Wilson made five saves in relief of Jeff Slater.

Stony Brook is back in action next Saturday when it hosts Albany. Face-off is 7 p.m.
