Five Seawolves Earn America East Men's Lacrosse All-Conference Honors

April 29, 2003

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Jason Cappadoro, George LaFlare and Kyle Pearl were named to the America East Men's Lacrosse all-conference first team it was announced today. Midfielder Dennis Nafte and defenseman Eric Hatkewitz pulled down second-team recognition while Cappadoro and Adam Marksberry earned all-rookie status.

Cappadoro, a freshman attackman, led the Seawolves in scoring during the regular season with 39 points (24g, 15a). He posted eight multiple-goal games and on three occasions was named the America East Rookie of the Week. LaFlare put together his best season in a Seawolf uniform this spring. The junior middie totaled 33 points on 16 goals and 17 assists to surpass his previous season high of 19 points that he set one year ago.

Sophomore Kyle Pearl has been a standout on defense for Stony Brook all season long. Pearl ranks third in the nation in ground balls per game (6.9), totaling an incredible 97 ground balls in 14 games. He could become the first Seawolf in Division I history to reach the 100-ground ball mark in a single season should he record three or more in Wednesday's playoff game against Albany. Pearl was a second team all-conference pick last season.

Nafte currently ranks fourth in the nation in face-off win percentage, winning 64.8 percent of his draws in 2003. He won 19 of 22 draws against Albany in a 12-8 loss on April 12. Hatkewitz, a first-team selection in 2002, earns all-conference recognition for the second straight year.

All-rookie team picks included first-team selection Cappadoro and Adam Marksberry. Marksberry, the homegrown product out of Port Jefferson Station, N.Y., totaled 14 goals and ranks fourth on the team in scoring.

University at Albany sophomore attackman Luke Daquino was named the America East Player of the Year and Hartford middie Garret Kikot earned Rookie of the Year. Hartford's Jack McGetrick was selected as Coach of the Year.
