Stony Brook University Installs New FieldTurf Playing Surface

Stony Brook University Athletics recently completed the installation of a new FieldTurf surface in Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium, replacing the original Field Turf which was installed when the facility opened in 2002. The new, 89,298 square foot surface was provided by Field Turf Tarkett and installed by the Land Tek Group Inc. [+]

Rand Tops NCAA in Face-Off Percentage

After an outstanding season in the face-off circle, sophomore Adam Rand (Niantic, Conn.) of Stony Brook's men's' lacrosse team has been named by the NCAA as the men's lacrosse statistical champion in face-off percentage for Division I in 2009. He is the fourth Stony Brook men's lacrosse player to earn the distinction, joining Brendan Callahan '07 (goals against average-2004), Kevin Pall '02 (goals per game-2001) and Greg Taylor '98 (save percentage-1998). McBride Named All-American for Second Time

Sophomore Jordan McBride (New Westminster, B.C.) has been selected as an All-American by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association for a second straight year after an outstanding 2009 season for the Stony Brook University men's lacrosse team. An honorable mention selection at attack, he becomes the first two-time lacrosse All-American in the 21-year history of the sport at Stony Brook. [+]
