Final Stats

Smithfield, R.I. - Sophomore Wilber Bonilla (Brentwood, N.Y.) scored two goals and freshman Berian Gobeil (Montreal, Quebec) added another as the Stony Brook men's soccer team shut out Bryant, 3-0, to lift its record to 1-2. Bryant is 0-3.

In the first match between Stony Brook and Bryant since 1998, the Seawolves struck for their first goal of the game in the 44th minute. Freshman Antonio Crespi (North Babylon, N.Y.) made a run down the right side of the field and played the ball to sophomore Kevin Zalewski (Parsippany, N.J.) who sent it to Bonilla to set up his first career Stony Brook goal. It was the second straight game the Seawolves scored the first goal of the game.

Gobeil, who scored against Harvard on Friday, set up Bonilla's second tally of the day. Following a throw-in, Gobeil served a cross that found Bonilla from just outside the 18-yard box. Bonilla's shot went towards the right side of the net past the Bryant keeper.

Stony Brook would make it 3-0 in when freshman Leonardo Fernandes (North Babylon, N.Y.) set up Gobeil in the 73rd minute. Utilizing a give-and-go, Fernandes found space and slipped the ball back to Gobeil whose shot found the left side of the net. The three goals scored by the Seawolves were their most since a 4-1 win over Marist in 2007.

Freshman Stefan Manz (Bronx, N.Y.) made his first collegiate start in goal for Stony Brook, which outshot Bryant, 12-5.

The Seawolves travel on the Long Island Expressway for their next game, taking on No. 5/3 St. John's on Friday night at 8 pm. It will be the first meeting between the two schools.
