Men's Soccer Records 3-2 Comeback Win To Remain Undefeated
Sept. 25, 2000 Towson, Md. - This win was a little bit different than the previous five wins have been for the Seawolves. Stony Brook has relied on an impenetrable defense to post five shutouts and a 5-0 mark. On Saturday, the Seawolves (6-0) relied on their scoring prowess in registering a come-from-behind 3-2 win over Towson (3-5). The Pack found the early going a bit tough as it allowed Todd Lauber to score twice in the game's first 10 minutes. Lauber took a pass from Alfonso DeMares and faked Stony Brook goalkeeper Dan Ferrin before scoring at the 6:57 mark. Lauber scored from 10 yards out at the 9:29 mark - again on a pass from DeMares to make the score 2-0. Stony Brook answered in the 13th minute as Dave Mittan banged home a rebound to cut the deficit to 2-1. Defender Jermaine Wright got in on the act less than five minutes later, tying the score on a direct kick goal. The contest remained tied until the 63rd minute when Hector Dillon took a cross from Ivan Perez and tallied the game-winner to help the Seawolves remain unbeaten. Ferrin registered four saves in the victory as Stony Brook handed the Tigers their third straight loss. The Seawolves will attempt to extend their win streak when they host Oneonta State on Saturday, Sept. 30, at 4 p.m. |
