Men's Soccer Ties Hartford, 0-0 in Double Overtime
Oct. 10, 2007
Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Seawolves recorded eight shots on goal but none of them found the back of the net as the Stony Brook men's soccer team tied Hartford, 0-0 in double overtime, on Wednesday night at LaValle Stadium. Stony Brook is now 6-4-2, 0-1-1 while Hartford is 5-3-2, 0-0-1. The majority of quality scoring chances went Stony Brook's way in the early going. Maurice Brown (Clarendon, Jamaica) had the first one of the game when his header went just over the goal post. Brown continued to pressure the offensive third of the field and almost scored his third goal of the season but Hawks keeper Matt Glaeser made a diving save to keep the game scoreless. Just before halftime, Brown created another scoring chance but was called for a handball just outside the box. Stony Brook had three scoring opportunities in the overtimes but each time Glaeser made a save. Dawid Ditrich (Gdansk, Poland) did not record a save in tonight's match. Glaeser made eight saves. Stony Brook is back in action on Saturday night when it hosts Vermont in an America East contest. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 pm.
