Brookline, Mass. - Petter Starnas had a hat trick for Northeastern to lead the Huskies past Stony Brook 5-0 Friday night at Parsons Field. NU has now won five straight America East conference games to improve to 9-4 on the season.

NU controlled the match from the beginning, holding the Seawolves to just four total shots, only one of which came in the second half. Starnas scored the game-winner in the 13th minute of play off an assist from Ben Collins. Starnas received Collins' pass inside the box where the only defender to beat was Stony Brook goalkeeper Matt Thibdeau. Thibdeau came out to challenge Starnas, but the senior forward was able to dribble around him and put the ball in the net. Starnas scored NU's third goal in the 31st minute off an assist from Antha Kirkopoulos and fourth goal in the 58th minute off an assist from Phonethip Ketnouvong to earn the hat trick.

Collins added NU's second goal in the 16th minute off a feed from Nate Houghton and midfielder Phonethip Ketnouvong added a goal in the 60th minute to round out the scoring.

Thibdeau made six saves in his first collegiate start for the Seawolves.

The Seawolves are in action again on Sunday when they take on Boston University.
