Men's Soccer Falls To Albany, 2-1

Albany, N.Y. - The Stony Brook men's soccer team lost its second straight game while Albany earned its first win in four games as the Great Danes defeated Stony Brook, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon in Albany, N.Y.

Savvas Theofilou gave Albany (8-5-2, 3-1-2 America East) the 1-0 edge in the 31st minute, scoring his second goal of the season off an assist from Nick Leddy. The Great Danes stretched their lead to 2-0 at the 59:40 mark with Lucas Machado's goal.

The Seawolves (2-13-1, 1-5) managed to cut into the lead 15 minutes later. Junior Anthony Barberio's unassisted goal drew the Seawolves within 2-1, but Albany held on for the win.

Stony Brook junior goalkeeper Matt Thibdeau made nine saves in his second start of the season, while Albany's Trevor Serraro collected 11 to earn the win.

The Seawolves return to action on Saturday, Nov. 2, when they host New Hampshire at University Field. Kickoff is 1 p.m.
