Own Goal By Maine Gives Men's Soccer 1-0 Win Over Black Bears

Orono, Maine - Maine headed a goal into its own net in the 41st minute as the Stony Brook men's soccer team picked up an important America East win with a 1-0 win over the Black Bears on Saturday afternoon. The Seawolves are now 9-6-2, 3-3-1 in conference play. Maine is 3-12-1, 1-5-1.

Neither team was able to muster much offense on the afternoon with Michael Palacio (Long Beach, N.Y.) and Diego Acero (Greenport, N.Y.) recording the Seawolves' only shots.

It was until the 41st minute when a shot attempted from the Seawolves was put into the net by Maine.

Dawid Ditrich (Gdansk, Poland) made two saves for his fifth shutout of the season.

Stony Brook hosts Yale in non-conference action on Wednesday night. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 pm.
