Men's Soccer Draws Brown in NCAA College Cup

Nov. 16, 2009

Indianapolis, Ind. - The field of 48 teams participating in the 2009 NCAA College Cup was announced on Monday evening and the Stony Brook men's soccer team will travel to face Brown at 7 pm on Thursday, November 19. It is the second bid for the Seawolves, who return to the tournament for the first time since 2005. Click here to listen live to the Brown radio coverage of the game. Click here for live stats.

Stony Brook (6-9-4) enters the College Cup with a seven-game unbeaten streak, the longest such stretch since the then Patriots went 7-0-1 to start the 1980 season. The Seawolves won their second America East Conference championship with Sunday's 2-0 win over UMBC. Head Coach Cesar Markovic is making his fourth trip to the NCAA Tournament and his third as a Division I coach. Under Markovic, each of his two previous teams won their first round game.

Brown, out of the Ivy League, went 10-2-5, 5-2-0 during the season. Senior Nick Elenz-Martin leads three players with five goals apiece. Paul Grandstrand has been the Bears' primary keeper this season, posting a 0.77 goals against average and a .777 save percentage.
