Fernandes Named Rookie Of The Year, Three Others Honored By America East Conference

Freshman Leonardo Fernandes (North Babylon, N.Y.) was named America East Rookie of the Year and three other players earned conference honors, as announced on Wednesday. Redshirt freshman Anthony Rogic (Boonton, N.J.) and freshman Berian Gobeil (Montreal, Quebec) joined Fernandes on the All-Rookie Team while senior Collin Geoghegan (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) was selected to the second team. America East Rookie of the Week honors, the conference announced on Monday. It is the second America East award for Fernandes, who leads the Seawolves with six goals and 14 points. [+]

10/31/2009 Fernandes, Rogic Lead Men's Soccer Over Hartford, 1-0 Freshman Leonardo Fernandes (North Babylon, N.Y.) scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season and redshirt freshman Anthony Rogic (Boonton, N.J.) made a career-high seven saves as the Stony Brook men's soccer team defeated Hartford, 1-0, on Senior Night at LaValle Stadium on Saturday night. With the win, the Seawolves locked up the #2 seed and earned a bye in next week's America East Tournament. Unbeaten in the last five games, Stony Brook is 5-9-3, 4-2-1. Hartford is 7-7-2, 4-2-1. [+]
