Men's Swimming and Diving in Second Place After Day 1 at the America East Championships

Boston, Mass. - The Stony Brook men's swimming and diving team is in second place after day 1 of the America East Championships at Boston University's Aquatics Center.

Julian Acevado started the championships off for Stony Brook in dramatic fashion, winning the one meter dive with a score of 305.30, edging Jeff Salgado of UMBC for first place and 20 points.

Stony Brook's "A" relay consisting of Ray Sato, Jake Dorfman, Dan Piastuck and Yoni Eldor finished fourth in the 800-yard freestyle relay, giving the Seawolves 30 points in event three.

The Seawolves place third in the 200-yard medley relay, when the team of Raphy Labour, Jon Sigurosson, Alexei Smirnov and Alex Kissel was edged by Binghamton and UMBC. The Seawolves "A" relay placed a time of 1:33.04.

Stony Brook recorded 98 points on Day 1, just two behind UMBC. Day 2 of the championships with preliminary heats in the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard IM and 50-yard freestyle.
