Men's Swimming and Diving in Third Place After Day 3 at America East Championships

Boston, Mass. - Sophomore Jon Sigurosson broke his own record in the 100-yard breaststroke as the Stony Brook men's swimming and diving team remained in third place after Day 3 at the America East Championships hosted by Boston University. Sigurosson, the America East champion in the 100-yard breaststroke last season, set the new record this season with a time of 56.04, breaking his mark of 56.33. Sigurosson gave the Seawolves their only first place finish of the day. Raphy Labour and Ruslan Safarov combined to score 28 for the Seawolves in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in third and seventh place, respectively. Julian Acevado followed up his first place finish in the one meter dive with a third place finish in the three meter dive. Stony Brook's "A" relay of Safarov, Sigurosson, Pai and Labour finished third in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:26.75. The America East Swimming and Diving Championships conclude tomorrow with competitions in the 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly and 1650-yard freestyle.
