Men's Swimming Falls to Army, 140-100; Women's Swimming falls to Army and Vermont

West Point, N.Y. - The Stony Brook men's swimming and diving team opened up the 2007-08 season with a 140-100 loss to Army and the women's swimming and diving team fell to Army 93-20 and 83-30 to Vermont at Crandall Pool in West Point, N.Y. on Friday night.

Lukasz Ochamanski (Lodz, Poland) would give the Seawolves first-place points when he finished first with a time of 9:45.15 in the 1000 Yard Freestyle. Maja Gudelj (Split, Croatia) helped Stony Brook on the women's side finishing second in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 25:48.

Alex Kissel (Amityville, N.Y.) continued the momentum when he touched first in the 50 Yard Freestyle in 21:88. America East champion Julian Acevado (Long Island City, N.Y.) finished first in the 12th event, the one meter dive with a score of 273.40.

Timothy Dosch (Colonia, N.J.) and Kissel would place second in the 200 Yard Butterfly and 100 Yard Freestyle, respectively.

Ochmanski would cap the nights events with a first-place finish in the 500 Yard Freestyle, just edging out Jeffrey Tolbert of Army.

The men's and women's squad travel to Connecticut in its next event on October 13. The first event is scheduled for a 12 pm start.
