Ochmanski, Acevedo Win America East Male Perfomer and Diver Of The Week

Nov. 1, 2007

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Lukasz Ochmanski (Lodz, Poland) and Julian Acevedo (Long Island City, N.Y.) were named America East Male Performer and Diver of the Week by the America East, the conference announced on Monday. Both swimmers were instrumental in a 166-134 over Boston College last week.

Ochmanski was one of the big contributors in last week's win over Boston College, winning three individual events and setting a school and pool record in the process. Ochmanski came up big in his first event, winning the 1,000-yard freestyle in a school/pool record time of 9:34.42, winning the race by an impressive 40 seconds. He also took first in the 500-yard freestyle (4:44.51) and the 200 IM (1:58.53) to help the Seawolves to their first victory of the season.

Acevedo did his part in helping Stony Brook to the dual meet win over Boston College, winning both diving events by wide margins. In the one-meter event he took first with 323.40 points, winning by over 140 points. He continued his strong showing in the three-meter competition, scoring 349.87 points to take the win by over 150 points.

Both the men and women's team compete at Fordham on November 7. Event one is scheduled for 5 pm.
