Cambridge, Mass. - After a standout week that saw him win a pair of singles and a doubles match in three outings, freshman Ivan Rummel (Budapest, Hungary) has been named the America East Performer of the Week in men's tennis, the league announced today.

Rummel had an outstanding final week of the season, winning both singles matches and a doubles match to go 3-0 for the week. Against Quinnipiac, the top team in the NEC, he was part of a doubles team that took an 8-4 win at No. 3 while sweeping past his singles opponent, 6-2, 6-1 in a 7-0 Stony Brook win. In the final match of the regular season he helped SBU to another 7-0 win, this time over Hartford when he moved up to No. 1 singles and took a 6-1, 6-0 victory over his opponent.

Next up for Stony Brook will be the America East Tournament which will start on Saturday, April 26 in New Haven, Connecticut.
