Men's Tennis Advances to America East Title Match With Win Over Boston

April 28, 2007

The third seeded Stony Brook men's tennis team topped the second seed Boston University team, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon to advance to the America East Championship on Sunday.

Stony Brook claimed the doubles point for an early 1-0 lead as Quirijn Van Veen and Ilan Shvartz won at No. 2 doubles, 8-4, and Jon Epstein and Youssef Fassi-Fehri won at No. 3, 9-8.

In singles, Fassi-Fehri won at No. 2, 6-2, 6-2, Nihal Advani won at No. 3, 6-3, 6-1 and Shvartz won at No. 4, 6-2, 6-1 to clinch the 4-0 win.

The Seawolves will face UMBC in the title match on Sunday morning.
