Seawolves Fall In Opening Round of NCAA Tournament
May 15, 2006 Los Angeles, Calif. - The Stony Brook men's tennis finally to an end on Saturday afternoon as the Seawolves lost in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, 4-0, to the defending National Champs, UCLA. After winning the America East Championship and earning a bid to the NCAA Tournament, the Seawolves made the trip to Los Angeles to take on the 10th seeded Bruins. The Bruins claimed the doubles point with wins at both No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. UCLA then recorded three straight-set victories to take the dual match 4-0. Youssef Fassi-Fehri fell, 6-0, 6-0 at court No. 4 to Phillip Gruendler, top-ranked Benjamin Kohlloeffel cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Stony Brook's Tal Meir and Haythem Abid clinched the sweep with the 6-0, 6-2 win over Mike Crooks. Stony Brook finished its 2006 campaign with a 14-7 record.
