West Hartford, Conn. - The Stony Brook Seawolves will play for the America East Championship in their first season of competition, thanks to a 65-54 win over New Hampshire (16-13) on Friday night in West Hartford. The #7 Seawolves (16-13) will face fifth seeded University of Hartford on Saturday at 3 p.m. in The Chase Family Arena in The Sports Center.

Stony Brook trailed just twice in the game, both by one point, and led 36-38 at the half. Down 17-16 in the first half, the Seawolves used an 11-2 run to take a 27-19 lead. Sarah Burkett scored six points during the run. Leading 47-40 with 11 minutes remaining in the second half, the Seawolves used an 8-0 run over the next four minutes to take a 55-40 lead with 7:06 left in the game. New Hampshire would cut the lead to nine, but would get no closer for the remainder of the game.

Stony Brook was led by Sherry Jordan who posted her second double-double in as many games in the tournament. She had 21 games and 12 rebounds to lead the Seawolves. Teammate Erika Shipley added 20 points, five steals and four assists in the victory.

New Hampshire was led by Maren Matthias, who also posted her second double-double of the tournament, she had 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead the way for the Wildcats. Aubrey Danen had 12 points and eight boards in the loss.

The #7 Seawolves (16-13) will face fifth seeded University of Hartford on Saturday at 3 p.m. in The Chase Family Arena in The Sports Center.
