Sherry Jordan Receives Second Team All-Met Honors

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Junior forward Sherry Jordan was named to the All-Met Division I Women's Basketball Second Team, it was announced Monday after a voting of area head coaches.

Jordan, who was also a first-team All-America East selection this year, averaged team-highs of 15.3 points and 9.6 rebounds for the Seawolves. She finished the season ranked first in the America East in rebounding and fifth in scoring. She also led the conference in steals with 2.87 per game. Jordan also became the 11th player to score 1,000 career points in the program's history and now ranks seventh all-time. Stony Brook finished 9-19 overall this year and 7-9 in the America East.

Named to the first team were Cappie Pondexter (Rutgers), Jen Brickey (Hofstra), Tamika Dudley (LIU), Rosalee Mason (Manhattan) and Mobolaji Akiode (Fordham). Joining Jordan on the second team were Katie McFarlane (Amry), Mauri Horton (Rutgers), Siobhan Kilkenny (Manhattan) and Sue Altman (Columbia).

Pondexter received Player of the Year honors, while Manhattan's Sal Buscaglia was named Coach of the Year.

The All-Met Division I Women's Basketball awardwinners will be honored at the 70th Annual NIT/MBWA Dinner on Wednesday, April 30, at Pegasus West in the Meadowlands Race Track.
