Women's Basketball Hits the Road to Face Rival Albany

Stony Brook University's women's basketball team looks to win its sixth conference game of the season when it travels to take on Albany on Wednesday night. Tip is set for 7:00 p.m. The longest running rivalry in school history, these two teams have met 40 times with SBU holding a 21-19 advantage. The Seawolves are off to their best start in America East play since the 2006-07 season. Stony Brook Athletics to Offer Free Women's Basketball Tickets to Mammogram Patients

Stony Brook University's Department of Athletics and Medical Center are coming together to offer all patients who receive a mammogram during the month of February a free ticket to the women's basketball Pink Zone game on February 27. The WBCA Pink Zone initiative began in 2007 as a global, unified effort for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. The 2009 Pink Zone campaign raised more than $1.3 million, reached over 912,000 fans and unified more than 1,600 participating teams and organizations. [+]

Defense Leads Women's Basketball to 74-60 Victory Over Binghamton

Junior Kirsten Jeter (Elmont, N.Y.) poured in 17 points and sophomore Tamiel Murray (Teaneck, N.J.) grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds as Stony Brook University's women's basketball team defeated Binghamton, 74-60, on Saturday afternoon in Pritchard Gymnasium. The Seawolves' defense forced Binghamton into 22 turnovers while tying a season-high with 13 steals. With the victory, Stony Brook moves to 7-16 (5-6 America East) while Binghamton drops to 8-15 (4-6). [+]
