Women's Lacrosse Signs Two Student-Athletes to National Letters of Intent; Announces 2008 Schedule

Jan. 2, 2008

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Allison Comito has announced the signing of Jill Weinstein (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) and Jackie Hughes (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) to National Letters on Intent. Comito has also announced Stony Brook's 2008 schedule which features games against two NCAA tournament teams.

Weinstein is a two-time all-tournament team selection who missed her junior year due to an injury. "Jill is an extremely quick and aggressive defender," Comito said. Hughes is a three-year varsity player and a two-time honorable mention all-Nassau County selection and two-year captain. "Jackie is a strong player who can play both attack and midfield," Comito said.

Stony Brook opens the season at home against Colgate which it defeated in dramatic fashion, 11-10, in last season's opener, on February 16. The Seawolves are on the road for the next three games including a trip to Denver where they'll face the host Pioneers on February 22, Duquesne on the 24th and Brown on March 8. The next two games are against NEC opponents, Sacred Heart and Monmouth. Stony Brook opens up conference play on March 22 against Vermont and continue its home schedule at LaValle Stadium against American, UMBC and New Hampshire. The Seawolves go back on the road for conference games against Boston University on April 9 and Binghamton on the 12th. Two of the next three games are at home against non-conference Marist and Long Island-rival Hofstra sandwiched in with a game against New York state-rival Albany on April 19.
