Women's Lacrosse Announces 2009 Schedule

Nov. 26, 2008

Stony Brook, N.Y. - A seven game home slate and three teams that made the 2008 NCAA Tournament, highlight the 2009 Stony Brook women's lacrosse schedule, head coach Allison Comito announced on Wednesday.

"We feel we have put together the most difficult schedule in program history," Comito said. "We are looking forward to the challenges we are sure to face with such strong competition."

For the third year in a row, Stony Brook will open the season against Colgate, which made it to the NCAA Tournament, on February 14. The Seawolves open the home schedule against a first time opponent in Loyola on February 18. Comito and Greyhounds' head coach Jen Adams, were part of four national championships as teammates at Maryland.

Following a neutral site game against Oregon at Johns Hopkins on February 22, Stony Brook returns home to face LeMoyne on February 28, which it faced in its inaugural season of 2003. Three of the next four games are on the road (Marist on March 4, Sacred Heart on March 11 and Massachusetts on March 14) sandwiched in by a home game against Yale on March 7.

After hosting Denver on March 18, Stony Brook opens its America East schedule against UMBC in Baltimore on March 21 in the first of a three-game road trip. The Seawolves, who beat Hofstra, 14-10 last season, take on the Pride on March 25. Following New Hampshire on March 28, Stony Brook is home for contests against Boston University on April 4 and Binghamton on April 11.

Stony Brook caps the 2009 regular season with a road game at Vermont on April 15 and a home game against Albany on April 18. The four-team America East Women's Lacrosse Championship will be held at the regular season champion's site.
