Sept. 17, 2003

Box Score

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Victoria Feliciano added a goal and an assist as the Stony Brook women's soccer team defeated Lehigh 2-1 on Wednesday evening in the Seawolves' home opener at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium. The win moves Stony Brook to 2-2-1, while Lehigh falls to 4-2 on the year.

The Seawolves dominated the opening half and took a 1-0 lead just under 18 minutes into the contest. Lehigh was called for a hand ball in the box, and Victoria Feliciano drove the ball past a diving Erin Iwaskiewicz into the lower right corner of the net for the first goal of the game.

Stony Brook kept the pressure on in the second frame as Feliciano took a shot from about 10 yards out. Iwaskiewicz got a hand on the ball, but it tipped behind her and was headed out by a Lehigh defender right to Joy Gueverra, who fired the rebound into the back of the net to give the Seawolves a 2-0 lead.

The Mountain Hawks got on the board at the 85:54 mark when Lauren Calabrese sailed a free kick past Stony Brook goalkeeper Cindy Bennett to make it 2-1. Stony Brook held on over the final 4:06 for the win.

The Seawolves return to action on Friday when they play host to St. Peter's at 6:00 p.m. in the first day of the Holiday Inn Express Tournament.
