Women's Soccer Drops Home Finale to Boston University, 3-0

Oct. 21, 2007

Box Score

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Boston University scored off two corners from Mara Osher in the first half and added a third tally in the second half to help beat the Stony Brook women's soccer team, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon at LaValle Stadium. The loss snaps Stony Brook's unbeaten streak at 10 games and it is now 7-3-5, 4-1-2 in America East play. Boston University is 8-6-2, 5-1-0.

Even with Stony Brook outshooting the Terriers 10-4 in the first half, the visitors found the back of the net early. Emily Pallotta scored the eventual game winner in the 10th minute when her header went past Stony Brook keeper Marisa Viola (Cutchogue, N.Y.). Shannon Mullen scored the Terriers other first half goal in the 39th minute.

Stony Brook's best chances for tallies came in the second half. Off a pass from Kate Collins (Essex Fells, N.J.), Aisling Toolan (Dublin, Ireland) gathered the ball and blasted a shot off the left post that rebounded into Boston University keeper Christina Reuter's grasp. In the 78th minute, Kate Collins would have her opportunity to score when she dribbled past a defender and shot the ball off the crossbar.

Stony Brook kept Reuter busy in the crease, making her save 14 shots. Viola had three saves on the day.

The Seawolves conclude the 2007 regular season with a match at Maine on Sunday afternoon. Kick-off is slated for 12 pm.
