Box Score

Orlando, Fla. - Tricia Lipareli went 4-for-4 from the plate with a triple and two runs batted in to lift Stony Brook to a 4-1 win over Southern Connecticut Wednesday afternoon. Lipareli collected three singles in the game to give her 88 for her career, making her the school's all-time leader in that category. She eclipsed the 17-year old mark of 86 previously held by Lucille Gianuzzi.

Lipareli once again got Stony Brook on the board in the first inning. Corinne Vish led off the game with a single and Lipareli followed with an RBI triple. Southern Connecticut tied the game in the fifth but the Seawolves responded with two runs in the sixth. A RBI groundout by Sam Foronjy and a Christie McMurray RBI single built the Stony Brook lead to 3-1.

Lipareli capped off her outstanding day at the plate in the seventh inning, singling home Cass Broadwater for Stony Brook's fourth run. Freshman pitcher Lindsay DeLaRosa struck out three in seven innings of work to earn her second straight win.

The softball team has certainly been one of the most impressive stories of the spring season as they have gotten off to a sizzling 5-1 start. Last season, Stony Brook won only four of 35 games.

Stony Brook will take on Army and Cornell on Thursday.
