Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook softball team won its 20th game of the season as the Seawolves split with Sacred Heart on Wednesday afternoon. Stony Brook won game one 6-0, but dropped game two 2-0.

Stony Brook (20-14) put a run on the board in the second inning for an early lead, when Corrine Vish reached on a fielder's choice that plated Sam Foronjy. The Seawolves put the game away in the third, when they scored five runs on six hits. Tricia Lipareli led off with a base hit, and Shea Carpenter's double drove in Lipareli. Christie McMurray's RBI double gave the Seawolves the 3-0 advantage, and Stony Brook tacked on three more runs for a comfortable 6-0 lead.

The Pioneers (17-19) were unable to come back as the Seawolves cruised to the victory.

Stephanie Poetzsch (12-6) had a near-perfect game, but a two-out double in the seventh inning proved to be the only Pioneer hit in the game. Poetzsch struck out 14 with no walks.

Game two was a different story, as two Sacred Heart runs in the first inning gave the Pioneers a 2-0 lead that would stand for the rest of the game. Stony Brook managed only two hits, and SHU pitcher Michelle Walker threw eight K's to get the win.

Lindsey DeLaRosa (7-8) picked up the loss on the mound, ending her streak of five straight wins.

The Seawolves host Marist tomorrow in the home season finale. A special senior ceremony will precede the doubleheader, which begins at 3 p.m.
