Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi (17-15) swept Stony Brook, 3-2 and 4-3, on Wednesday afternoon.

Adelphi opened up a 3-0 lead after four innings in game one, but the Seawolves (3-28) came back in the sixth. Christie McMurray's two-run homer brought Stony Brook to within 3-2, but USB could get no closer as Adelphi picked up the win. Sue Westing went 2-for-3 with a run scored. Pitcher Stephanie Poetzsch (2-15) struck out 11, giving up three runs on seven hits.

In game two, Adelphi again opened up a 3-0 advantage, scoring two runs in the first inning and a homer in the third. However, the Seawolves came back to tie it up in the bottom of the third. Westing's double scored Sam Foronjy and Tricia Lipareli drove in Westing and Corrine Vish. The score remained 3-3 until the bottom of the seventh, when Adelphi's Kelly Healy reached home on an error for the 4-3 victory. Cassie Rupp (1-13) picked up the loss, giving up four runs on 10 hits.

Stony Brook returns to the field on Thursday as they host Columbia at University Field at 3 p.m.
